Conference dinners

Two conference dinners are planned ($95 each) - for days 2 and 3 of the conference. They will be at the Castle Hill RSL Club. Conference attendees may bring spouses/partners not booked for the conference itself.

The dinners are also open to virtual attendees who live close enough to join us at Castle Hill RSL Club.

You will be in for a treat with two of the most memorable presentations I have heard in decades of attending genealogy events.

Don't miss this opportunity!

DAY 2 - Wednesday 9 November 2022 - 7pm to 9pm

After dinner speaker: Paul Milner

Topic: The messages our ancestors leave behind - A humorous and thought-provoking look at the messages our ancestors left behind and why? Plus raising the question about what we will leave behind.

I still remember the impact this presentation had when Paul gave it on the closing night of our 2013 genealogy cruise.

Buffet menu - guide only (under review and may change)

  • Bread rolls and butter
  • Salad - Traditional caesar salad with baby cos, bacon, cage free egg, garlic croutons and shaved parmesan
  • Salad - Mixed leaves, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, Spanish onion and shaved carrot
  • Salad - French beans, red onion and vinaigrette dressing
  • Cold - Marinated and chargrilled baby octopus
  • Cold - Roast beef with mustard crust
  • Hot - Baked snapper fillet with lemon and Spring onion dressing
  • Hot - Mongolian lamb and vegetable stir fry
  • Hot - Asian greens

DAY 3 - Thursday 10 November 2022 - 7pm to 9pm

After dinner speaker: Carol Becker

Topic: So you are married to a genealogist? - Non-genealogist Carol is married to Paul Milner. If you bring your non-genealogy spouse/partner along, they will cheer Carol all the way. And at the same time, you will be embarrassed by the insights Carol brings.

Probably few, if any, who heard Carol present this on the final night of our 2015 cruise will ever forget it. I am told it is now a fully updated covid era version.

Buffet menu - guide only (under review and may change)

  • Charcuterie grazing board on arrival with cured meats, marinated olives, selection of breads, dips and stuffed peppers
  • Bread rolls and butter
  • Salad - Thai style slaw, cabbage, carrot, green beans, crispy noodles, coriander with coconut and lemongrass dressing
  • Salad - Baby spinach, roasted sweet potato, Spanish onions, creamy feta and crunchy toasted almonds
  • Salad - German potato salad with seeded mustard mayonnaise
  • Cold - Smoked glazed leg ham
  • Hot - Slow roasted grass fed beef served with thyme and red wine glaze
  • Hot - Thai style chicken and cashew nut stir fry, coriander, onion, garlic, carrots and capsicum
  • Side - Steamed seasonal vegetables coated in butter and parsley
  • Dessert - Farmhouse cheeses, quince paste, nuts and lavosh
  • Desserts – selection of cakes and slices
  • In-Room Espresso coffee service, organic and herbal teas

CLICK HERE to book the dinners. Bookings close 7 November 2022.

We will all dine somewhere. Why not at one or both the above.

In addition to the food, you get extended casual time with fellow genies and two presentations that may well be remembered for years to come.

  • come on your own and join a table of fellow genies (most genealogists don't bring their spouses/partner to conferences like this, so you will have plenty of company)
  • bring your spouse, partner or friend, if they are with you - especially for Carol's presentation on Day 3
  • dress - dress up if you wish, but that is an option only
  • dietary - the booking form has provision to note any special dietary requirements

Dispelling a misconception - you do not need to be married to attend or appreciate Carol's presentation. It is first of all for genealogists whether married or not. But it is one genealogy presentation your non-genie spouse, partner or friend will definitely warm to and remember.
