The Chancery records of England are an underused resource even though they can reveal much about the stories of people and communities in the past.

This is a case study based on Sue's investigation of Richard & Elizabeth Swalwell of Whitby, Yorkshire, in the first half of the 18th Century and more particularly the presence of Elizabeth in the Chancery records for approximately sixty years even beyond her death.
