A professional genealogist and lecturer, specialising in British Isles and US research for over 35 years, Paul was born and raised in northern England and settled in the US in 1975. He is an internationally recognised speaker for British Isles research and migration and author of a number of publications.
Paul Milner, a native of northern England is a professional genealogist and international lecturer.
He has taught weeklong English and Scottish research tracks at the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research (IGHR), Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), and the British Institute. Paul is the 2018 Utah Genealogical Association Fellow Award recipient for living individuals whose distinguished contributions and on-going commitment to the field of genealogy are of national or international scope. He is the 2019 Federation of Genealogical Societies recipient of the David S. Vogels, Jr award for 25 years of service and writing book reviews for the FGS Forum.
He is the author of six publications - Buried treasures: what’s in the English parish chest (Unlock the Past, 2015); Discover English census records (Unlock the Past, 2014), Discover English parish records (Unlock the Past, 2014), Genealogy at a glance: England research (Genealogical Publishing Co., 2011), plus co-author with Linda Jonas of A genealogists guide to discovering your English ancestors: how to find and record your unique heritage (Betterway Books, 2000), and A genealogists guide to discovering your Scottish ancestors: how to find and record your unique heritage (Betterway Books, 2002). Paul has specialised in British Isles genealogical research for over 35 years.
Paul is currently the book review editor for the BIGWILL newsletter and retired review editor of the FGS FORUM. He is the past-president of the British Interest Group of Wisconsin and Illinois (BIGWILL), and a past board member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, Federation of Genealogical Societies, and Genealogical Speakers Guild.
